VISUALIZATIONS
I am currently soliciting gigs on the Big Island of Hawai`i. Imagine for your next party or event, Stunning Visualizations of the music projected on the wall, ceiling or a screen, or plugged directly into your big screen or plasma TV! I provide equipment, set up, programming, and VJing for many types of integrated multimedia installations, but my favorite is Music Visualization. Music Visualization is the process of translating the various properties of playing music (such as tempo, volume, pitch, but many more) into a constantly changing graphic display. You may have seen small version of these in the media player that you use to listen to music from the internet, similar graphic displays are used in some screen savers, although without the music. The difference between Music Visualization and a screen saver is that in Music Visualization the various properties of the playing music are being examined and analyzed in real-time by the software and the graphic display is produced as an effect of the music. With the speed of today's computers, this process happens so fast that the graphic display, or Visualization, appears to be completely in-sync with the music. Visualizations literally let you watch your music move. Unlike screen savers and music videos, Music Visualizations usually include additional randomization that assure that the video NEVER REPEATS. The computer is generating the display as it goes. I have created several systems that utilize Music Visualization on a much larger scale. Using a computer and an LCD video projector and some custom software, I have created a mobile VJ station that enables big screen display of Music Visualizations utilizing a standard audio out from a DJ, or from a streaming internet source. I also build stand-alone systems that can be plugged in to your stereo and TV and used like a music synchronized lava lamp. As my own interest in Music Visualization increased, I began researching the technology and collecting different types of Visualization algorythms from different developers. I now have a collection of over 100 visualization types, each with literally hundreds of variations, and that library is growing all the time. As well I have collected and created software for mixing and sequencing Visualizations. If you are interested in commissioning a system, or just want to hire a VJ for your next party, please contact me at reese@tolver.com |
