Sometimes I am reminded of the two Narcissus plants that were given to Tolver and I annonymously at our 20th anniversary party. We never really tried to figure out who gave them to us (they could have been from George Takei, who we had invited because he had just come out a couple weeks before) although I sometimes wonder if they were from someone who was actually at the party, judging our reactions. I bring it up because I wonder just how much a blog like this is narcissism. I mean, you have to really love something about yourself to think that other people would really care. Maybe I haven't been loving myself enough to post anything; maybe, sometimes, life is just uneventful.
I've considered starting a blog on the Anuenue Protea site to help me record the day to day happenings on the farm. Mostly it would consist of entries such as: Tuesday, July 31, 2007 - last night's rainfall unappreciable, watched the plants grow, Tolver dug 14 more holes, inventoried the greenhouse. I guess its worth a try, if for no other reason than to discover whether a more disciplined approach on one site will help me be more regular on this one.
My time on the computer recently has been devoted to evaluating new DJ/VJ software. Supposedly, now that I have THE LAPTOP, I will be seeking out more gigs, which will require that I have a lot of new tricks in my bag.
Tolver's 39th birthday is in a couple more days. Unfortunately I used all of my unexpected windfall on the laptop, so I don't even have the $30 to buy him the cool green lighter that he saw at the antique store that I had wanted to surprise him with. I guess he will see this post, and the thought will count. He really wanted me to have the laptop, because he got my desktop as the hand-me-down, so I gues that was his present.
Thank you to all my friends; I can see when you stop by from the the blog logs. Several of you hit the page yesterday. You make me feel loved, even when I'm down. link | posted by Reese at 1:31 PM

Yes, in the last picture I am working on my new laptop on our freshly installed desk surface. It is still missing the molding under the lip of the counter top, to complete the front facade, and then all of the wood gets a few coats of stain.
We attended TrancenDance in Kealakekua last night (no pictures though.) We took the projector and ran the lightshow off the new laptop. TrancenDance only brings in about 20 people a week on average. But its a nice space, and they keep one of the big bay doors open to the sunset and then the night breeze. We will probably go again.

So, Walmart had a single Toshiba A205 (Dual Core Centrino) left, and we convinced the cash register to give it to me for just over $800. After working with it for the last 48 hours, I am very happy with my purchase.

Subject: Tomorrow
Mr Reese,
Fear not, however; the current plan says that the Tolver and I are going to be there for your birthday the following Saturday. The job that he has been working in Leilani requires another trip over in the truck, so that is planned for your big day. Bob, unfortunately, has other plans that day. However, because Dr. Daddy Sir will not be joining us, Tolver and I have the opportunity to stay later, and enjoy your celebration of specialness.
As the above, refers the the current plan (and here's where it "starts" getting complicated, but don't blame me, you who invoked the word "worromot") , the variability of the future suggests that I may have a new laptop by your birthday. The overall combination of circumstance would let me "spin" your party.
To answer your initial query: NO, there will be no CDs for you tomorrow. Impatient boys don't get their birthday presents early. Tolver will pick me up from volleyball, and we will get to your place at a reasonable time, and make the music happen. I may even be able to provide my lightshow.
Kiss Kiss,
reese

We went to a dance party at Kalani this past weekend, and I think that it was the first time that we actually had fun at Kalani. That's not Kalani's fault; we have just previously never been able to get into the vibe there. This time, friends from vollyball who live at Kalani invited us over for dinner after the game, and we stayed for the dance. Dinner was wonderful, the company was wonderful, and while the music was less than wonderful, I had a good time dancing.
We have been trying to find a source of gigs/events to participate in. While Tolver and I enjoy living "out in the sticks", we figure that it is about time for us to broaden our social circle beyond volleyball. There is another regular estatic dance event Kona-side (Kalani being Puna-side) that we are thinking of getting involved in. So we may go to that tonight.
We have also started Tribe accounts. Although I haven't had much motivation that direction yet. I think Tolver has worked on his some.
O yeah, the title of the post: striped feet... I have been playing vollleyball wearing a pair of Walmart sandles lately. They are very comfortable, and the rocks fall out as easily as they get in (unlike with tennis shoes), but we noticed the other day that I now have very distinct tan lines on my feet. Heh.

Now its a very sunny room! Not only are the walls a gentle shade of sunshine yellow, the window faces the morning sun this time of year, so the effect is very bright and cheery for all you morning people. There is also a nice view of the pineapple patch, and uphill the protea. We think that we may replace the window with a sliding glass door, someday, and create another lanai to adjoin the eventual carport (whew!)
We are under mandatory water rationing now, even if we did get some rain yesterday. Actually all of the rain that we catch with our tanks is ours to do with as we please, and we might just be able to live off that even with such low rainfall. But, we share our water with over 3000 plants, so we purchase water to keep up with the demands of production and propagation; we've pretty much had to give up on the landscape plants, the strong will survive. Its clouded up, and acting like it did yesterday, hopefully that means more rain.
