Fair warning, this is a bad news post. Reading this post will only serve to upset or depress you. I apologize, but it must be done. It almost seems that I won't find anything pleasant to blog about until I get around to blogging about the unpleasant news.

So last chance! Turn back, or the path you take may lead to certain doom!

News item one: The new to us puppy is gone... After the earthquake, Lakshmi, or Muppet a she had come to be called, disappeared. We search everywhere, all day and into the night Sunday, and again, all day Monday. We put up signs, we call the people that you call. We are just sick about it. Now after a week, we have not turned up a body, so we have to assume that she wandered out to the road and someone picked her up. There appearently is a high rate of theft of smaller dogs, as bringing pets to the island from the mainland is tricky and expensive. We are very sad to have lost her, but glad to have given her two good weeks, here in the clouds, where she could play amoungst the flowers, eat all that she wanted, and pee anywhere she pleased.

News item two: I will not be able to make the trip to San Francisco for Marty's Solstice Party this year.

There. That's out; now maybe I can move on to some better news. Tolver's modification is healing nicely. We will post new pictures when the scabs come off!
